International Aid Hurts Palestinian Civil Society: Grassroots Activists Speak Out
Palestinians' rights to self- determination are already denied by occupation, colonization and dispossession. International aid, which is supposed to help, should not be delivered in ways that further undermine local priorities, capacities, ownership and rights.

No justice, no peace - Resistance against imperialist occupation worldwide
No justice, no peace - Resistance against imperialist occupation worldwide
The imperialist aggression can just be stopped by active resistance of the people of the world. Wherever they are. We need to overthrow our capitalist government and bring power back to the people. We need to stop massive funding of war and crimes by our bourgeois governments, who just work for their own profit. The Revolution has just begun. We are millions against the millionaires of the world. We are the people of the world. We are one and we demand a socialist society, where who you are doesn't depend anymore on how much money you have. We want a society that is not anymore plundering other countries for their own benefit. We want to live together in peace. We want free health care for everyone. We want work for everyone. We don't need unemployment. Unemployment is just a tool for the capitalists to keep us under pressure. We need a fundamental change in our thinking and our society. SOCIAL REVOLUTION - NOW!

Wall Street Occupation Song and lyrics by Jack Vanderwyk People need water and food and health People want a fair share of common wealth There ain't no American democracy Pure dictatorship - of the majority Aiming at the votes of 51 percent The rest of the people can live in tents People are fed up with corporate greed Honest leadership, that's what we need Criminals are ruling our society Wall Street occupation is the start of something new People of the world, the world needs you This world is ruled by financial institutions Raising our voices is our only weapon Corporate billionaires, these bloody cunts Are having a good life with our pension funds While they on the Bahamas are enjoying life We will have to work until we're 75 People are fed up with corporate greed Honest leadership, that's what we need Criminals are ruling our society Wall Street occupation is the start of something new People of the world, the world needs you Twenty-eleven should be the year of liberation Throughout the world the end of all occupation The fight for freedom's not an easy exercise As long as money's involved, rule of finance applies Ethical conduct is not to be expected When personal wealth can't be resisted People are fed up with corporate greed Honest leadership, that's what we need Criminals are ruling our society Wall Street occupation is the start of something new People of the world, the world needs you

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Mary Ann Shaffer
www.bloomsbury.com www.randomhouse.com Listen to extracts from this The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. It's January, 1946, and writer Juliet Ashton sits at her desk, vainly seeking a subject for her next book. Out of the blue, she receives a letter from one Dawsey Adams of Guernsey -- by chance, he's acquired a secondhand book that once belonged to Juliet -- and, spurred on by their mutual love of Charles Lamb, they begin a correspondence. When Dawsey reveals that he is a member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Juliet's curiosity is piqued, and it's not long before she begins to hear from the other members. As the letters fly back and forth with stories of life in Guernsey under the German Occupation, Juliet soon realizes that the society is every bit as extraordinary as its name. There's gawky Isola, who makes love potions to sell along with her vegetables; Eben, a fisherman with a passion for Shakespeare; Will, erstwhile ironmonger and the creator of the famous potato peel pie; and Dawsey himself, a farmer with a shy manner and a tender heart. Most poignant of all are the memories of Elizabeth, the founding member of the society, who fell in love with a German officer, saved a starving prisoner, and was sent away to a concentration camp, leaving her child behind. Sustained by books and one another, the islanders have battled the bitter hardships of World War II. Juliet, entranced by their stories and their spirit ...

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
Celebrating literature, love, and the power of the human spirit, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is the story of an English author living in the shadow of World War II—and embarking on a writing project that will dramatically change her life. Unfolding in a series of letters, this enchanting novel introduces readers to the indomitable Juliet Ashton. Through Juliets correspondence with her publisher, best friend, and an absorbing cast of characters, readers discover that despite the personal losses she suffered in the Blitz, and author tours sometimes marked by mishaps, nothing can quell her enthusiasm for the written word. One day, she begins a different sort of correspondence, responding to a man who found her name on the flyleaf of a cherished secondhand book. He tells her that his name is Dawsey Adams, a native resident of Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands recently liberated from Nazi occupation. Soon Juliet is drawn into Dawseys remarkable circle of friends, courageous men and women who formed the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society as a cover to protect them from the Germans. With their appetite for good books, and their determination to honor the islands haunting recent history, this is a community that opens Juliets heart and mind in ways she could never have imagined.

'Israel protests silent on occupation issue'
'Israel protests silent on occupation issue'
It has been a summer of discontent in Israel as hundreds of thousands of protesters have held rallies across the country against the soaring cost of living. Speaking to Al Jazeera on the significance of the protests, Joseph Dana, writer and journalist based in Tel Aviv, said the protests have been spontaneous and unprecedented. But he said that protesters and protest organisers have specifically been silent on the issue of the occupation of Palestinians. "Right now close to 85 per cent of the public is in support of the demonstrations and yet the protesters still maintain the line that they are apolitical - meaning they refuse to discuss the issue of occupation," Dana said. "But the sad reality is that if Israelis discuss Palestinian rights, specifically the rights of Palestinians under Israeli occupation, they very quickly lose public support. "If there is no criticism of the occupation it would provide an absolute proof that the Israeli society is not ready or willing to discuss this occupation."

Occupation Has No Future: Militarism + Resistance in Israel/Palestine -- Trailer
In the Fall of 2009 a group of US veterans and war resisters traveled to Israel/Palestine to meet with their Israeli counterparts in an effort to strengthen connections and share experiences. "Occupation Has No Future" uses this trip as a lens to study Israeli militarism, examine the occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, and explore the work of Israelis and Palestinians working against militarism and occupation. Through conversations with Israeli conscientious objectors, former soldiers, and Palestinians living under occupation, the film creates a survey of the current atmosphere in the State of Israel and the West Bank. It explores the Israeli social environment that creates such heightened militarism and leads to attitudes of fear, exclusion, racism, and ultimately aggression; and examines the consequences of Israeli policies both for the Palestinian people as well as Israeli civil society. Additionally this documentary looks at the Israeli anti-militarist movement and those Israeli youth refusing conscription, refusing orders, and choosing to partner with a growing grassroots Palestinian campaign of civil disobedience to defeat the occupation. Honest about the extremely daunting challenges, "Occupation Has No Future" ultimately tracks the hope of a growing number of Israelis and Palestinians to live together, free from occupation, with peace and justice. Salman Abu Sitta: The Geography of Occupation
Professor Salman H. Abu-Sitta of the London-based Palestine Land Society gives a personal account of how he became a refugee in Palestine in 1948. Using data from his research, Abu-Sitta shows how over 600 Palestinian villages were systematically depopulated by the advancing Israeli forces, leaving many others dismembered by an arbitrary cease-fire line. With maps and demographic statistics, Abu-Sitta shows that, in effect, Zoinist policies were an ethnic cleasing campaign that resulted in a massive transfer of native Palestinians to the countries bordering Israel, where thousands remain within 100 miles from their original communities. Gerald Celente, the Kleptocrat's Carry-Trade and the Revolution against Financial Occupation
Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com A US lawmaker is reportedly planning to introduce the "Sound Dollar Act" early next month. This is legislation that would move the federal reserve from its dual mandate of maintaining price stability (which is anathema to the dollar debasement that it creates through its massive money printing operations) and keeping unemployment low (which it has failed to do...curious...) to just promoting price stability. Hmmm...what would that mean for the Fed's unofficial mandate of trashing the dollar? And Turkey, the fastest growing economy after China, is being penalized in the credit markets for failing to promote consumer savings, according to bloomberg. What? You mean savings matter!! That's amazing...ummm not to us it isn't. You can't have economic growth without savings, because you can't have investment without capital. Capital comes form savings, and growth comes from investment, but its shocking how many people think money "grows on tress." Can you blame them, when we have a serial money printer at the Federal Reserve, pushing us all into serfdom and neo-feudalism with a policy of perpetual bailouts and zero percent interest rates? Oligarchy here we come! Finally, with central bank policies of the fed and ECB amounting to --trash for cash -- as economist David McWilliams puts it with his "Punk Economics: Lesson 2," turning "water into wine." These perpetual bailouts are nothing other than an institutional form of wealth transfer. They ...

An hour-long movie of remixed shorts that explore the philosophical roots of the recent movement of the 99%. As zombie banksters threaten to consume all that's left of our spectacular society, B Media's fifth video variety show showcases the mycelia network of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Deeply rooted in historical and international precedents that have the potential to turn toxic assets and discarded derivatives into new communities where shared vision and collective decision making empowers us all. The film calls on our collective conscience to remember the Oaxacan teacher strikes and the Bonus Army, and it explores this new technological globalrevolution by riffing on the work of video ninjas everywhere. Darryl Mitchell and David Graeber's dialectics break down the bricks of Wall Street, PeeWee Herman interviews Emma Goldman about the black bloc, Mr. Bean gets peppersprayed, and Obama is mic-checked in his Disney World as the police protect the smart ALEC's running the show. 1940 Denmark and Norway Occupied! Operation Weserubung
www.romanoarchives.tk Hard to find German amateur color film. Operation Weserubung was the codename for Nazi Germany's assault on Denmark and Norway and the opening operation of the Norwegian Campaign. The name comes from the German for Operation Weser-Exercise (Unternehmen Weserubung), the Weser being a German river. In the early morning of April 9, 1940 (Wesertag "Weser Day") Germany invaded Denmark and Norway, ostensibly as a preventive maneuver against a planned, and openly discussed, Franco-British occupation of both these countries. After the invasions, envoys of the Germans informed the governments of Denmark and Norway that the Wehrmacht had come to protect the countries' neutrality against Franco-British aggression. Significant differences in geography, location and climate between the two countries made the actual military operations very dissimilar. Starting with the invasion of April 9, 1940, Norway was under military occupation of German forces and civil rule of a German commissioner in collaboration with a pro-German puppet government. The occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany ended May 8, 1945, after the capitulation of German forces in Europe. This period of occupation, usually referred to as the "war years" or "occupation period" in Norway, had defining significance for Norwegian society, and it is only recently that Norway considers itself as having passed out of the "post-war era". CIA Archives: Unconquerable Tibet - History, Religious Customs, Occupation (1959)
DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The History of Tibet from 1950 to the present was heralded by the People's Liberation Army entering Tibet in 1950-51. Before then, Central Tibet had unilaterally declared independence from the Qing Dynasty in 1913, after which the Dalai Lama continued to act as both the religious head of Tibetan's Buddhist populace and as the political head of Tibet at that time. In 1959 the Dalai Lama fled Tibet to northern India where he setup the Tibetan government in exile. Chinese sources generally claim progress towards a prosperous and free society in Tibet, with its pillars being economic development, legal advancement, and peasant emancipation. The People's Republic of China classifies Tibetans as one of its 56 recognized ethnic groups and part of the greater Zhonghua Minzu or multi-ethnic Chinese nation. In 1949, seeing that the Communists were gaining control of China, the Kashag expelled all Chinese connected with the Chinese government, over the protests of both the Kuomingtang and the Communists. Neither the Republic of China nor the People's Republic of China has ever renounced China's claim to sovereignty over Tibet. The Chinese Communist government led by Mao Zedong, which came to power in October, lost little time in asserting a new Chinese presence in Tibet. In June 1950 the UK Government in the House of Commons stated that His Majesty's Government "have always been prepared to recognise Chinese suzerainty over Tibet, but only on ...

Unheard Voices: Palestinians, Israelis, and the Occupation Part 4: Breaking the Silence In the spring of 2002, the Israeli army surrounded and attacked the Balata refugee camp. The camera follows residents living in a state of terror and records their lives and feelings. The desperate situation in the Jenin refugee camp after the death and destruction of Israel's violent attack is also depicted, conveying the reality of "occupation." Meanwhile, former Israeli officers and soldiers in a group called Breaking the Silence testify to the numbing of their sense of morality and ethics during service in the occupied territories, and the dread they feel over the loss of their humanity. They speak out from concern that the moral foundations of Israeli society and the state are at risk. The soldiers' testimony and the ambivalence of their families reveal the deep shadows that the occupation has cast on Israeli society.
